First MSC certification for the Heard Island & McDonald Islands Mackerel Icefish fishery

Government Buyout of fishing licences

Austral Fisheries played an instrumental part in the Government buyout of fishing licences in the Northern Prawn Fishery to reduce that fleet from over 300 vessels down to 52.

Achieved MSC re-certification for the Heard Island & McDonald Islands Mackerel Icefish fishery

Built the Austral Hunter

Pound for pound, the most efficient fishing vessel in the Northern Prawn Fishery.

Built the Cape Arkona

A triple purpose, hybrid-electric fishing vessel. The first of its kind in the world.

Seafood for Good Accelerator Program

We launched the Seafood for Good accelerator program, a 12 week initiative to develop and create innovative solutions for sustainable seafood in Australia.
