AWEN - Your Pathway to Sustainable Packaging

AWEN Packaging Consulting helps businesses to be compliant with packaging regulations in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and globally. We create new packaging solutions that minimise the economy's impact on the environment, considering its end of life without diminishing a product's beauty or purpose. We encourage businesses to rise above the established cycle of waste, and recyclables and remove excess materials from their products altogether. Our potential to lead change is limited only by our understanding of materials: their composition, their production, and their final destination (local waste management). AWEN helps business leaders rethink their packaging, redesign the system sustainably and realise their power to make a positive change for the planet without compromising business operations.

Product Supply Chain & Circularity

1. Packaging Assessment & Strategy

Turn your packaging into a competitive advantage. We analyse your full packaging range against the latest Sustainable Packaging Guidelines and deliver a tailored sustainability framework with clear recommendations and a practical action plan—so you can meet compliance, cut costs, and strengthen your brand’s reputation.

2. APCO Reporting & Compliance

Simplify your obligations and ensure you never miss a requirement. As trusted consultants by APCO and the Australian Institute of Packaging, we take the stress out of APCO reporting—supporting you with Annual Reports, Action Plans, ARL reporting, and compliance audits.

3. Recyclability Assessment & Labelling

Confidently meet recycling requirements worldwide. We assess the recyclability of your packaging and provide clear, market-ready recycling labels for Australia, New Zealand, and global markets—helping you build trust and transparency with your customers.

4. Packaging Strategy for European & UK Markets

European Market:

With the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) coming into force, compliance is essential to remain competitive across Europe. We help you navigate the complex requirements of PPWR, ensuring your packaging strategy not only meets the new standards but also positions your business for long-term success in the European market.

The UK Market:

The UK is moving ahead with its own Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, creating a different set of obligations for businesses placing packaging on the market. We guide you through these evolving requirements, helping you build a strategy that ensures compliance, avoids costly penalties, reduces exposure to higher fees, and minimises the impact of the Plastic Packaging Tax, and keeps your products flowing smoothly into the UK market.

5. Carbon Footprint for Packaging Suppliers

Australia’s mandatory climate reporting regime is already underway for the largest entities, with requirements phased in for additional companies through 2026 and 2027. In-scope organisations must prepare annual sustainability reports under the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standard AASB S2, including climate-related financial disclosures. Packaging plays a critical role in these reports, as its impact is double: once for the materials used in production, and again for end-of-life disposal. From 2026, FMCG and large companies will demand verified carbon footprint data from their packaging suppliers to meet compliance obligations.

We help you stay ahead of these requirements by:

- Calculating your packaging carbon footprint in line with mandatory reporting standards

- Providing verified, client-ready data to support your customers’ compliance

- Positioning your business as a trusted, forward-thinking supplier in a competitive market

Don’t wait until your clients ask for your carbon footprint, be ahead, reduce risk, and turn it into a strategic advantage.
