Needo is mentioned in sustainability-related content through its involvement in B Academics LATAM and in a project supported by the Accelerate-to-Demonstrate (A2D) Facility in Namibia. The available material links the brand to sustainable business education, B Corp-related academic networks, and a demonstration project using renewable hydrogen to produce fertilizer. The project is described as reducing industrial carbon emissions, supporting sustainable agriculture, and creating local jobs and training opportunities. It also refers to community engagement, gender equality, and environmental and social safeguards. No broader company sustainability report or policy is provided in the source content.

Joined B Academics LATAM

The B Academics LATAM Chapter is promoted by B Academics and Sistema B, and its founder group includes María José Calvimontes (Needo) and Natalia Hopkins (Sustainability & ESG Consultant at AB COM). The chapter is described as a grass-roots network of academics that voluntarily contribute to develop diverse initiatives that help local academics/the academy to increase teaching and research about B Corporations, and therefore, contribute to the transition to a new economy in Latin America.

Supported Namibia project

Supported through the A2D Facility’s first call-for-proposals in 2024, this demonstration project is being implemented by Daures Green Hydrogen Village, and is creating Namibia’s first end-to-end green synthetic fertilizer solution. By harnessing renewable solar energy to produce clean hydrogen, which is then converted into ammonia and ammonium sulfate fertilizer, the project is reducing industrial carbon emissions, improving agricultural productivity, and setting a precedent for sustainable agriculture in Africa.

Linked to community safeguards

With community engagement, local job creation, gender equality, and environmental and social safeguards at its core, the demonstration project is a model for inclusive, scalable industrial decarbonization — enhancing food security, empowering local communities, and training a new generation of technicians and engineers.

Needo Sustainability Commitments
