New Balance Sustainability Actions

New Balance Foundation

The establishment of New Balance Foundation by Jim and Anne Davis in 1981 demonstrated tremendous foresight as New Balance embraced Responsible Leadership and established philanthropic goals focused on supporting vibrant communities and promoting good health for all. The Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to drive positive change in our global communities with an enduring commitment to preventing childhood obesity and championing the future success of today’s youth. To that end, New Balance Foundation has donated more than $100 million dollars to non‑profit organizations.

OUR APPROACH

We live in a community greater than just our company. Our products - and the materials that go into making them - are processed with energy, water, and chemicals in factories around the world. We are working hard to understand and minimize negative environmental impacts of our supply chain operations - with an eye towards the future where we leave zero impacts and even bring positive change to the local environment.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

New Balance is moving towards a low carbon future by reducing energy consumption in our own facilities and throughout our global supply chain, and by actively investing in renewable energy. We are in the process of completing our first company carbon footprint, which will serve as the basis for prioritizing future initiatives and setting company wide targets.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

At New Balance, we're focussing our efforts around two major climate commitments: joining RE100 and signing the United Nations (UN) Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action. Through RE100, New Balance commits to sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2025 across all global New Balance operations. RE100 is a global initiative that brings together the world's most influential companies committed to 100% renewable power.

WATER STEWARDSHIP

New Balance is committed to working with our suppliers to better understand and manage water impacts throughout our supply chain. Collectively, we need to use less, and we need to ensure that the water we do use is clean when discharged back into the environment.
