Worldsteel Association Sustainability Actions

Sustainability Indicators Reporting

worldsteel uses 19 Sustainability Indicators to measure key aspects of the steel industry's economic, environmental, and social performance. The World Steel Association has been reporting on the sustainability performance of the global steel industry since 2004.

Low-Carbon Steel Production

Low-carbon steel is manufactured using technologies and practices that result in significantly lower GHG emissions than conventional production.

Supplier ESG Assessments

ESG and Sustainability Assessments were made mandatory for Tier 1 suppliers in 2024 and Tier 2 in 2025, with Tier 3 integration planned for 2026.
