Created a Sustainability & ESG unit

In September 2021, IR.on AG grouped its ESG consulting and sustainability communications work into a separate Sustainability & ESG unit. The unit was set up to cover the full process, from checking the current situation to building strategy and writing sustainability reports. It was led by senior consultant Anna-Lena Mayer, with Michael Werner brought in as a strategic advisor. The company said the goal was to help clients deal with changing rules, reporting standards, and investor expectations in a field that can be hard to navigate.

Advises on ESG reporting

The new unit supports organisations with sustainability management systems, ESG rating processes, and sustainability reports that follow international standards. In plain terms, this means it helps companies organise their environmental and social data, understand how rating agencies may judge them, and turn that information into formal reports. The service is aimed at businesses that need clearer guidance on what to disclose and how to present it to investors and other stakeholders.

Expanded sustainability expertise

IR.on AG brought in Michael Werner, a former PwC partner, as a strategic advisor for the new ESG unit. The material says he had spent 15 years at PwC building a sustainability consulting practice and later worked in reputation consulting. His background was presented as a way to strengthen the firm’s ability to advise on sustainability topics for both mid-sized companies and larger listed businesses.
