Aurora Expeditions Sustainability Actions

Certified B Corporation

Today, we are proud to be a Certified B Corporation™ (‘B Corp’), reflecting our dedication to verified social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

Ships as research platforms

We use our ships as mobile research platforms, partnering with leading scientists to gather data on wildlife, ocean health, and climate change. Our expeditions contribute to global knowledge while giving expeditioners the opportunity to take part in our citizen science programs, collecting valuable data that supports real-world research and conservation efforts.

Ocean regeneration initiative

FY25 saw 4,716 passengers, so we funded the planting of 4,716 units of marine life and prevented 4,716 kilograms of plastic waste from entering the ocean. This initiative goes beyond conservation, to actively rebuild what has been lost due to human activity and climate change.

Donations to conservation groups

In 2025, we joined international non-profit Travel Conservation Fund (ATCF). Our membership funds projects that protect endangered species and fragile habitats, preserve cultural heritage and support Indigenous communities. A$30,000 donated. The Macquarie Island Conservation Foundation supports science, research, management, student projects and outreach to advance conservation on Macquarie Island. A$20,000 donated. Mission Blue advocates for the protection of Hope Spots. A$60,000 donated. The Mawson’s Huts Foundation is dedicated to conserving the historic huts at Cape Denison, East Antarctica. A$30,000 donated.

Climate voyage and petition

Our second climate-focused voyage, The BIG ACE (Bears Ice Glaciers Arctic Climate Expedition) brought together scientists, artists, youth leaders, filmmakers, and educators under one mission: to give voice to the voiceless and inspire the world to protect the Arctic. Voyage highlights included 98 climate ambassadors aged 9-90, from 25 countries, and the creation and launch of the Arctic Resolution: a petition to protect the Arctic Ocean from surface to seafloor.

Eco-Expedition Parka

We partnered with Certified B Corpâ„¢, XTM Performance, to launch the Eco-Expedition Parka. Key features include an outer shell made from 100% recycled PET bottles, PFAS-free, water-repellent coating, built to last, and 100% landfill-free packaging.

Plastic reduction onboard

We have drastically reduced the use of plastic aboard our ships, eliminating single-use plastic bottles in favor of Nordaq water, a new premium water filtration system.
