B Corp recertification

Baileys says it became B Corp certified in 2022 and later recertified with a 13-point increase, reaching 95.5 points. B Corp is a certification for companies that meet set social and environmental standards. The brand says the review covered governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. It also says the process required public reporting and a full verification check by B Lab, the group behind the certification.

Ran a grass-to-glass study

In 2020, Baileys carried out a lifecycle analysis from grass to glass. A lifecycle analysis looks at a product’s impact across its full life, from raw materials to waste. The brand says it used the study to measure dairy farming, production, water use, packaging, logistics, and waste disposal. It presents this as a way to understand where its biggest environmental impacts come from and where it can improve.

Switched to renewable electricity

Baileys says it has used 100% renewable electricity in its operations since 2008. Renewable electricity comes from sources like wind or solar rather than fossil fuels. The brand also says it has moved to lower-carbon operations and is working on a science-based approach to cut emissions across its supply chain. This is part of its wider climate work, which it links to its 2030 goals.

Improved packaging weight

Baileys says it has lightweighted its core glass bottles by 10% and tested a new aluminium bottle that is 5 times lighter than glass. It says the aluminium version cuts the packaging carbon footprint by 44% compared with a glass bottle. The brand also says it trialled a bottle in 2024 that is 90% paper and easy to recycle. These changes are meant to reduce material use and make packaging easier to handle at end of life.

Works with Irish dairy farms

Baileys says it works with more than 385 Irish family farms and that around 98% of them have been family run for generations. It says the farms are audited every 18 months under Ireland’s National Sustainable Dairy Assurance Scheme, which checks animal welfare, traceability, environmental protection, and food safety. The brand also says it uses satellite imagery and other tracking tools to monitor environmental impact on supplier farms.

Uses farm sustainability training

Baileys says it and its dairy supplier Tirlán take part in the Sustainable Farming Academy. This is a training effort that gives farmers knowledge and skills for more sustainable farming. The brand also points to earlier work such as the Sustainable Cream Initiative and says it supports ongoing learning on Irish dairy farms. These actions are meant to help suppliers improve farming practices over time.
