Handmade and recycled bags

Our fabulous range of leather bags are made for us by amazing traditional craftsmen and women in India. Our collection has expanded over the years and to compliment our Classic brown leather collection we have an amazing range of coloured recycled leather bags, our Harlequin range. Our supplier runs a co-operative of artisan workers who source the leather offcuts, destined for landfill, and craft the leather into little unique masterpieces.

Naturally tanned leather

Our first order arrived with a selection of handmade satchels and saddle bags which were snapped up as quickly as they'd taken to arrive! Made from goat skins, they are unique and take on their own personality, being naturally tanned, (no harmful chemicals) then oiled (giving the distressed/vintage look) and laid out to soak up the Indian sun.

Supporting artisan livelihoods

By keeping our prices low, it enables us to keep reordering and keeping their businesses ticking over. Our Classic bag orders have helped to keep that business sustainable throughout the lengthy quiet season, keeping the craftsmen employed an additional 7 months of the year. Whilst the Harlequin & Gentlemen’s bags are made by a co-operative of skilled men and women workers who earn a proper wage enabling them to send their children to school.

Repair service offered

We offer a full repair service for handbags and clothing. Leather goods with damaged locks or wear and tear are repaired by the manufacturer who made them originally. Clothing is generally repaired in house by our very experienced seamstress. Care instructions are available for all products advising how to keep our items in good condition and protect them from damage.

Small quantities and no destruction

We produce all garments in small quantities so that we are not left with long lines that have to be disposed of. At the end of the season, some items are discounted and offered for sale in our shop and on our website. Styles will not quickly date and are sufficiently versatile that they can be worn in different ways for many years. We never destroy any unsold stock.
