Signed UN PRI

Bintang was amongst the earliest investment firms in Malaysia to sign up to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (“UN PRI”) in December 2021. The UN PRI, via its 6 principles and 17 Sustainable Development Goals (“SDGs”), are the foundations that guide our impact strategies.

Joined Impact Principles

Bintang became an Impact Principles signatory in October 2022. As of March 2025, Bintang is the sole Operating Principles for Impact Management signatory in Malaysia. The 9 Impact Principles provide a framework for the implementation of an impact management system, ensuring that impact considerations are integrated throughout our investment lifecycle.

Launched ESG challenge

In 2023, Bintang embarked upon a journey to baseline our ESG & Impact knowledge across the team. We initiated the ESG & Impact Challenge in March 2023, challenging our team to take on the Sustainable Investing Certificate by the CFA Institute and Certificate in Impact Investing by CFA UK.

Became a B Corp

On the 21st of May, 2023, Bintang became a B Corp, the first private equity firm in Southeast Asia to earn this prestigious recognition. To earn its certification, Bintang completed the comprehensive B Impact Assessment, evaluating the firm’s practices and performance across five impact areas: workers, communities, customers, governance, and the environment.

Launched Sequel Funds

In 2024, Bintang launched our Sequel Funds – BCP Asia Fund II (“BCPAF II”) and Bintang Semiconductor Impact Fund I (“BSIF I”). Bintang’s Sequel Funds are built on three key pillars: Advancing Responsible Capitalism.

Engaged BlueMark

Bintang engaged BlueMark, a Tideline company, to undertake an independent verification of the alignment of our Firm’s impact management practices with the Impact Principles. The assessment findings cover both areas of strength as well as areas for improvement.

Joined AVPN

Bintang is a member of the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (“AVPN”), a network of 600+ organisations across 33 countries who are focused on increasing the flow of financial, human and intellectual capital from around the world into the social sector in Asia; Bintang leverages the AVPN platform for collaborative co-impact generation.

Signed UN WEPs

Bintang is a signatory to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (“WEPs”). The WEPs is a joint initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact aimed at empowering women to participate fully in economic life across all sectors and outlines seven steps for businesses to achieve these goals in the workplace, marketplace and community.
