blisce Sustainability Actions

B Corp certification

blisce/ became the first B Lab certified growth venture capital fund in the EU. To become a B-Corp it completed an assessment and audit process covering environmental practices, labor policies, organizational governance, investment strategy, and charitable giving. The company changed its legal documents to include a consideration of all stakeholders in the business, not just shareholders, and to include that “The purpose of the Company shall include creating a material positive impact on society and the environment, taken as a whole, from the business and operations of the Company.”

ESG clauses in term sheets

blisce/ has carefully embedded ESG practices across every level of the investment fund. In regard to its portfolio, the fund’s term sheet includes two non-negotiable clauses for ventures: an agreement to carry out an ongoing ESG evaluation every 12–18 months; and a commitment to interview at least one diverse profile for every open senior leadership position.

Donated carried interest

As a team, the blisce/ team has committed to donating 20% of their carried interest revenues to Epic, a non-profit startup that fights to change the lives of disadvantaged youth worldwide.

Supported impact reporting

blisce/ said it supported portfolio companies beyond capital, including working with teams on strategy planning, impact goal-setting, and integrating metrics into board updates and management objectives.

Backed surplus food platform

blisce/ said it invested in Too Good To Go, a marketplace that connects users to surplus food from local businesses, turning would-be waste into affordable, accessible meals. It described the company as the world’s largest surplus food platform.
