Boody Sustainability Actions

Uses lower-impact materials

Boody says it uses organically grown bamboo in its everyday basics, and The Commons Earth notes that it also uses bamboo lyocell and organic cotton in some garments. These materials are often seen as lower impact than some conventional fibres because they can reduce pressure on water, pesticides, or fossil-based inputs. The brand also says its bamboo is grown without pesticides and that its fabric is OEKO-TEX® certified, which means it has been tested for certain harmful substances.

Joined CanopyStyle

In April 2022, Boody was named among the fashion brands joining CanopyStyle, a forest-protection initiative focused on keeping ancient and endangered forests out of viscose supply chains. The initiative also pushes brands to use recycled or agricultural-residue fibres instead of wood from high-risk forests, and to use FSC-certified wood if virgin fibre is needed. This points to action on sourcing risks linked to man-made cellulosic fibres such as viscose.

Publishes a supplier code

The Commons Earth says Boody publicly shares a supplier code of conduct. That code bans forced labour, does not allow subcontracting, and supports the right to collective bargaining, which means workers can join together to negotiate with employers. This is a basic labour safeguard, even though the same source says Boody does not publish much detail about its supply chain partners or living-wage practices.

Uses OEKO-TEX certified fabric

Boody says some of its products are OEKO-TEX® certified, which means the fabric has been checked for certain harmful chemicals. The brand also describes its clothing as PFAs free, meaning it says it does not use a group of long-lasting industrial chemicals often linked to environmental and health concerns. This is a product-level action rather than a full-company sustainability program.
