Reused Shelter workstations

In the Shelter project, BJB said that “around 50% of the existing workstations were reused,” and that it reused chairs and lockers. The project also included “Up-cycle and recycling of existing products.”

Designed for inclusive use

BJB said that “neurodiversity in workplace design shouldn't be a separate conversation” and that good design accounts for “acoustics, lighting, wayfinding, colour and the ability to find quiet or stimulation depending on what the work demands.” It added that “inclusive design isn't a specialist subject. It's 'just' design done properly.”

Biophilic design approach

BJB described biophilic design as understanding “the human need for connection to the natural world” and designing places that respond to it through “Natural light. Organic materials. Views. Greenery. Movement. Patterns.” It said spaces designed with biophilia in mind improve wellbeing, reduce stress and increase productivity.

BJB said that for furniture and fit-out it uses its “Partner Network” to ensure “the right fit, scale and budget,” and that it works with an independent Project Manager while reviewing budgets on an “apples for apples” specification.
