Calvin Klein Sustainability Actions

Uses lower-impact materials

Calvin Klein says it is choosing recycled and other lower-impact fibres in some products. It also says this is part of a wider move toward more sustainable cotton, viscose, wool, and polyester. Good On You notes that the brand uses some lower-impact materials, including organic cotton, but also says it does not publish a full breakdown of the materials it uses. That makes it harder for outside readers to check how much of the range is actually made with these fibres.

Works on cleaner production

The brand says it is looking for production methods that use less water, energy, or chemicals than standard processes. Good On You says Calvin Klein has set a science-based target (a climate target based on climate science) to cut greenhouse gas emissions in both its own operations and its supply chain, but it also says there is no evidence the brand is on track. Good On You also says the brand has a target to remove hazardous chemicals by 2025 and claims it is on track.

Changes packaging materials

Calvin Klein says it wants to end single-use plastic in all packaging and remove unnecessary waste by 2030. It also says it is using Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper hangtags and packaging through work with Canopy. FSC certification means the paper comes from forests managed to certain environmental and social standards. The brand also says its Australian business is a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation, which works on a circular economy for packaging in Australia.

Supports inclusion programs

Calvin Klein says it supports non-profit partners that focus on inclusion and community support. It also says it runs career programs with non-profit partners to help young people learn more about fashion jobs. In 2024, it launched the Community Champions Challenge, a pilot program that lets associates support organisations they care about and expands partnerships around the world. These actions are framed as part of the brand’s social responsibility work.

Uses some recycled product lines

A Nasdaq press release said Calvin Klein launched a Recycle capsule with underwear and T-shirts made from recycled plastic water bottles. It also said CK EVERYONE fragrance uses naturally derived ingredients, is vegan, recyclable, and comes in a carton with 30% post-consumer recycled material. These are product-level changes, not proof that the whole brand is sustainable, but they do show some lower-impact design choices in specific items.
