Campbell’s Sustainability Actions

EDF Fertilizer Optimisation Program

Campbell's has partnered with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and wheat growers to reduce fertilizer runoff and cut greenhouse gas emissions across its wheat sourcing regions. The collaboration deploys the SUSTAIN™ platform — a set of nutrient optimisation tools developed by EDF and United Suppliers — across tens of thousands of acres in key growing areas including Nebraska and Ohio. Excess nitrogen fertilizer is responsible for nitrous oxide emissions 300 times more potent than CO₂, making this initiative a material contribution to Campbell's Scope 3 emissions reduction.

Sustainable Agriculture Implementation

Achieved 68% of wheat sourced from suppliers in approved sustainable agriculture programs, exceeding fiscal 2025 goal of 50%

Sustainable Packaging Progress

Achieved 92% recyclable or industrially compostable packaging across product portfolio

Sustainability Incentive Compensation Integration

In fiscal 2025, Campbell's formally incorporated progress against corporate responsibility goals into its executive and employee incentive compensation programme. This governance mechanism, overseen by the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors, links financial reward to measurable sustainability outcomes across emissions, packaging, and sustainable sourcing. It reflects a step toward embedding accountability for environmental performance at the highest levels of corporate decision-making.
