Uses carbon neutral shipping

When shipping packages out to customers, we predominantly use Canada Post as our shipper, which provides carbon neutral shipping options all across Canada. This is achieved through emission reduction targets (hybrid and electric delivery fleets and other low emission vehicles) and through the purchase of carbon offsets which support Indigenous owned or led, and Canadian nature-based offset projects.

Reduced packaging plastics

We've stopped using plastics in 98% of our packages (save for small amounts of tape around padding of axes), and all other packaging and packing tape is paper based. Bags used for liquids or small items are 100% compostable.

Reuses cardboard and paper

In our facilities, we re-process the cardboard from products that are shipped to us so that it can be used as padding and protective fill in the packages we ship out. By doing so, we reuse about 80% of all the cardboard that enters our system. We also re-use paper that has been printed only on one side for internal or temporary printouts.

Recycles remaining materials

Any cardboard we can't reuse gets recycled (it is source separated to ensure it does not go to landfill), and our facilities provide staff the means to recycle their own containers, cartons, or other items as per the recycling requirements of our local municipality.

Offers battery recycling

Additionally, we offer battery recycling at our storefront for those customers looking to recycle their lithium, Ni-Mh, Ni-Cad , and alkaline batteries, and to help keep these products directed to the facilities that can effectively deal with them - and not in a landfill.

Donates to Nature Conservancy

The Canadian Outdoor Equipment Co. is proud to donate a portion of our proceeds to the Nature Conservancy of Canada: a non-profit, and the country’s largest national land conservation organization.
