City of Urbana Sustainability Actions

Municipal Electric Aggregation Program

The City of Urbana's Municipal Electric Aggregation Program purchases Renewable Energy Credits (REC) for all electricity used by residents who have opted into the program.

Geothermal System Incentives

The city is working to familiarize people with geothermal heating and cooling, as well as lower the initial investment for a geothermal system through incentive programs.

Business Sustainability Incentives

The city offers incentives available for businesses that increase their sustainability efforts, including TIF District Energy Incentive providing cash incentives equal to 5% for qualifying projects.
