Environmental policy guidance

As a part of our Environmental policy, E Co. Principal consultant Dr Jasmine Hyman and Analyst Sadie DeCoste wrote an article on office recycling, after a visit to Paper Round Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in London. Below, they provide a short guide on the Dos and Don’ts of office recycling: wash out plastics and other food containers, take plastic carrier bags back to a supermarket that accepts them, empty out coffee cups, avoid shredding or ripping paper unless it is confidential, and buy refurbished electronic equipment, especially monitors and cables.

Climate finance support

E Co. assists impact investors and philanthropic foundations in accessing complementary financing through risk-sharing mechanisms to attract private capital for climate-focused initiatives. It offers guidance on meeting GCF, AF, and GEF compliance requirements, alongside support for obtaining accreditation for climate financing mechanisms. The consultancy includes project design assistance to ensure successful concept notes and funding applications, as well as engagement with local stakeholders.

ESG strategy for companies

E Co. provides essential support for private companies, SMEs, and corporates in formulating effective ESG strategies. It assists in developing and managing Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs), GAPs, and net-zero transition plans. Its consultancy identifies opportunities for carbon offsetting and calculates GHG footprints. It also conducts market assessments and qualitative/quantitative analyses of pilot climate solutions to inform business decisions.

Climate investment assessments

E Co. has helped clients identify and prioritise high-impact investment opportunities in key sectors, such as renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and social enterprises. Its assessments have provided insights to help clients measure and demonstrate the social and environmental impact of their investments, supported strategic decision-making, and fostered collaborative partnerships with co-investors.

Climate justice and inclusion

E Co. states that climate justice is a foundational principle of its work. It works to channel resources towards those most vulnerable and in need, ensuring that mitigation, adaptation and resilience efforts are inclusive and effective. It also says it actively engages with indigenous peoples and impoverished communities, and adopts an intersectional approach to mainstream gender within climate initiatives from the preparation phase onwards.
