Making energy cheap, cleaner, and fair

Energy Locals appears to be an electricity retailer focused on cleaner power choices, but the available third-party material is thin. The strongest independent signal in the content is that it is discussed alongside other energy brands in sustainability-related rating and review contexts, but there is no clear independent sustainability assessment for Energy Locals itself. No verified B Corp certification, Good On You rating, or public sustainability report was found in the material provided. Because of that, its ESG picture is hard to judge from outside sources alone. Consumers would need more published evidence on emissions, energy sourcing, and customer service before drawing firm conclusions.

Energy Locals Sustainability Actions

Installed solar, batteries, and EV chargers

Energy Locals says it has already installed more than 7,000 kW of solar PV, over 1,000 kW of batteries, and more than 420 EV chargers. Solar PV means panels that turn sunlight into electricity. Batteries help store power for later use, and EV chargers support electric cars. These projects suggest the company is helping buildings use cleaner electricity and support the shift away from fossil fuels.

Evidence

Focused on apartment energy

The company says its mission is to make energy cheaper, fairer, and cleaner for Australians living in apartments. It also says it works closely with developers to bring sustainable energy to apartment buildings. That points to a business model aimed at places where shared energy systems can be harder to set up than in standalone homes.

Recognised for green electricity

Energy Locals says it was rated 4.5 Green Energy Stars in Greenpeace’s Green Electricity Guide for 2022. Greenpeace’s guide compares electricity providers on how much renewable energy they use and how strongly they support cleaner power. The company also says Finder named it Green Energy Retailer of the Year, which it links to sustainability leadership and climate action.

Evidence

Won customer service awards

The company says it has received a ProductReview.com.au award and describes itself as one of the top-rated energy companies based on customer reviews. While this is not a direct environmental measure, it does show that customers have responded well to its service. Good service can matter in energy because it affects how easily people can switch to or stay with a provider.

Built local support in Australia

Energy Locals says it is Australian-owned and operated, with support staff based in Australia. This is not a sustainability action on its own, but it can matter for service quality and local accountability. The company presents this as part of how it runs its business while serving customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Has Energy Locals published a sustainability report?

Confidence: Low. As of September 2026, no public sustainability report for Energy Locals was found in the material provided. The available third-party content does not show a verified ESG report, emissions disclosure, or similar document. That means there is not enough independent evidence here to judge how the company measures or manages its environmental impact. Consumers who want a clearer picture may need to ask Energy Locals directly for any published climate, energy sourcing, or reporting documents.. What is Energy Locals' sustainability rating?

Confidence: Low. As of September 2026, Energy Locals does not appear to have a public sustainability rating from the main independent raters in the material provided. Good On You is Not found, and no B Corp certification was found. That means there is no clear third-party score here to compare its sustainability performance with other brands. Consumers looking for a rating-based view should check whether Energy Locals has any newer independent assessments or ask the company for evidence of its environmental claims.. Sources: Sustainability Tracker - https://sustainabilitytracker.com/brand/energy-locals/

What sustainability certifications does Energy Locals have?

Confidence: Low. As of September 2026, no sustainability certification for Energy Locals was found in the material provided. There is no evidence here of B Corp status, and no other independent certification was identified. A certification is a formal check by a third party, so the absence of one does not prove poor performance, but it does mean outside verification is missing. Consumers who want proof should ask Energy Locals whether it holds any environmental or social certifications.. What is Energy Locals' carbon footprint?

Confidence: Low. As of September 2026, Energy Locals has not publicly disclosed a carbon footprint in the material provided. No verified emissions data, such as Scope 1, 2, or 3 emissions, was found. Scope 1 means direct emissions from owned operations, Scope 2 means emissions from purchased electricity, and Scope 3 covers the wider supply chain. Without those figures, it is hard to compare the company’s climate impact with other energy retailers. Consumers can ask Energy Locals for any published emissions data or climate targets.. Is Energy Locals' packaging sustainable?

Confidence: Low. As of September 2026, packaging does not appear to be a relevant sustainability issue for Energy Locals based on the material provided. The company is an electricity retailer, so the available content does not discuss product packaging, recycled materials, or waste reduction in that area. There is not enough evidence here to assess packaging sustainability. Consumers may want to focus instead on the company’s energy sourcing, emissions reporting, and customer service transparency.. Is Energy Locals ethical in how it treats workers and suppliers?

Confidence: Low. As of September 2026, there is not enough independent information in the material provided to judge Energy Locals on labour or supply chain ethics. No third-party review, worker report, or supplier audit was found. A supply chain is the network of companies and people that help make and deliver a service, and it is often where labour risks can appear.
