Evri is a UK parcel delivery company that has reported investment in sustainability initiatives as part of its ESG commitment. At its Brooklands depot, the company has trialled alternative fuels including hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and hydrogen for delivery vehicles. The HVO trial began in April 2022 and was expanded to use across multiple HGVs and vans at the site. Evri has said these initiatives are part of its plans to meet ESG targets while continuing parcel delivery operations.

Trialled HVO at Brooklands

The depot management team took the MP on a tour of the depot which is a fundamental part of the national operation which delivers 700 million parcels a year. It was explained to Dr Spencer that to support Evri’s ESG commitment, the company chose Brooklands depot to trial its sustainable fuel initiatives including hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) as well as hydrogen. The initial trial using HVO began in April 2022 and has since expanded and is now being used by 26 HGVs and 26 vans at Brooklands depot, reducing emissions by approximately 90%.

Started hydrogen trial

The trial of hydrogen will begin in July 2023, and will be powering a specially modified van used to pick up and drop off parcels at ParcelShops in the area. This is expected to reduce emissions by 100%, with zero CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) and NOx (Nitrogen Oxides) emissions.

Dr Ben Spencer, MP of Runnymede and Weybridge, visited the Evri depot in Brooklands to tour the site and hear about the firm’s continued growth and its investment in sustainability initiatives. These are just part of our ambitious plans to meet our ESG targets.
