Firefly Coaches Sustainability Actions

Modern engine fleet

Our coaches run a mix of Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines, currently around a 50/50 split, with the cleaner Euro 6 rating making up a growing share as older vehicles are replaced.

AdBlue across 100% of the fleet and Extra-low-sulphur diesel

Every Firefly coach runs AdBlue (selective catalytic reduction), which reduces nitrogen oxide (NOx) in the exhaust - a local air-quality measure. 
Our fleet also runs on extra-low-sulphur diesel, a cleaner-burning fuel than the older high-sulphur diesel it replaces, producing fewer sulphur and particulate emissions.

Telematics & driver monitoring

Onboard telematics and driver-monitoring systems track fuel consumption and idling, helping us bring both down.

Paperless Ticketing

We use paperless systems and digital records across the business wherever possible. All tickets are provided digitally.

Fleet renewal to higher engine standards

We're progressively replacing older vehicles with newer, lower-emission, more fuel-efficient coaches - moving our Euro 5/Euro 6 mix from roughly 50/50 today toward 40/60 in favour of Euro 6 over the coming months.
