Sustainability At Freedom

Good design should never come at the expense of the environment. We're committed to playing our part in creating a more sustainable future with furniture and homewares built to last. As one of Australia's largest home lifestyle retailers, we know that we can really make a difference. Our sustainability strategy is centred around our three most significant areas of impact: considered design, smarter packaging and better practices. Our goals are ambitious because they reflect the climate and biodiversity crisis we are faced with today, and they align with the key objectives of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. We know that change won’t happen overnight, but we are committed to positive improvements and want to share our journey with you.

Freedom Sustainability Actions

Ethical Timber Sourcing Policy

Freedom has implemented an Ethical Timber Sourcing Policy (ETSP), working closely with local and international suppliers with the goal of having all timber materials used in the production of furniture credibly and ethically sourced from legal and sustainable forest operations. This work is ongoing and our team at Freedom is continually reviewing our policies to ensure all goals are achieved.

Modern Slavery & Ethical Sourcing

All of our suppliers are required to sign a Modern Slavery Declaration, as we recognise the responsibility of operating in a transparent and ethical manner, in line with the Modern Slavery Act 2018. Our Modern Slavery statement can be viewed on the Australian Border Force Modern Slavery Register: https://modernslaveryregister.gov.au/statements/12474/

Freedom To Green Committee

Freedom's 'Freedom to Green' is our internal committee with a shared vision of creating a greener and healthier future, inspiring change internally and externally. The committee has had impact across initiatives such as recycling and waste management, advocacy for renewable energy, sensor and LED lighting, PandaDoc to eliminate paper use, education on sustainability for all teams and upcycling carboard packaging.
