2030
Run on carbon-free energy
Google says it has a climate goal to run its data centers and offices on carbon-free energy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by 2030. Carbon-free energy means electricity that does not create carbon emissions when it is generated, such as solar, wind, or hydropower. The company says this is a long-term target and that it is still working toward it. In 2025, it said it reached about 65% carbon-free energy on a global average, so the target is not yet met.
2030
Grow electrical workforce
Google says its partnership with the electrical training ALLIANCE aims to increase the electrical workforce pipeline by 70% by 2030. A workforce pipeline is the flow of trained people entering a job field. The company links this to local job training and the need for more electricians as it expands data centers and energy infrastructure. This is a future target, not a completed result.
