HUB Footwear is a Dutch sneaker brand founded in 2004. Its sustainability-related content focuses on packaging, materials sourcing, and production practices. The brand says it is a B Corp and uses recycled materials in shoeboxes, wrapping paper, and shipping bags. It states that all leather is sourced from Leather Working Group certified tanneries, and that it uses recycled canvas, recycled nylon, and recycled rubber where possible. HUB also says it works with long-term suppliers in Vietnam and Taiwan under a Code of Conduct covering human rights, fair treatment, working conditions, and environmental responsibility.

HUB Footwear Sustainability Actions

Recycled packaging materials

At HUB, we believe sustainability should be part of every detail. As a proud B Corp, we integrate eco-friendly choices into every aspect of our operations, including packaging. From shoeboxes to shipping bags, each element is carefully designed with recycled materials, reduced impact, and reusability in mind. Our shoeboxes are made from 100% recycled cardboard. The wrapping paper protecting your sneakers is made from 100% recycled paper. Our shipping bags are made from 80% recycled plastic and include a second adhesive strip, so it can be reused if you need to return your order.

Leather Working Group sourcing

All leather we use is sourced from Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries, meeting recognised standards for animal welfare, safety and environmental practices. The Leather Working Group is a global not-for-profit organization redefining how leather is produced. Since 2005, their mission has been clear: promoting sustainable and responsible practices in the leather industry. The LWG sets the benchmark for environmental performance in the leather industry, with rigorous standards and thorough audits.

Recycled materials in sneakers

Beyond leather, we actively use recycled materials to reduce our footprint. By giving existing resources a second life, we save raw materials, minimize water and energy use, and cut CO2 emissions. Our recycled canvas is made from production waste: surplus canvas that has never been worn by consumers. Our nylon is 100% recycled from repurposed plastic. We reclaim rubber waste from our outsole production and reuse it to create new soles. At this moment, our sneakers contain 10% recycled rubber.
