Huskee Sustainability Actions

Made cups from waste materials

Huskee says its original reusable cup is made from coffee husk, which is the dry outer layer left after coffee beans are processed. It also says later ranges use recycled plastic and stainless steel. The aim is to replace single-use coffee cups with products that can be used many times, which helps cut waste in cafes, offices, and at home.

Built a closed-loop system

The brand says it created HuskeeLoop, a system that takes cups at the end of their life and turns them into new products. This is a circular economy approach, which means keeping materials in use for as long as possible instead of sending them to landfill. Huskee also says it has a cup exchange system for cafes called HuskeeSwap.

Published end-of-life research

Huskee published a progress report on end-of-life work through Compost Connect, a platform it says was founded by BioPak in 2021. The report covers composting education, research on compostable packaging, and efforts to help businesses and councils improve food waste recovery. It also says the team launched new research on South Australia’s composting system and on Australian attitudes to composting.

Ran composting education campaigns

The company says it refreshed the Compost Connect website, updated council composting information, and launched the Compost for Climate campaign and petition. These actions were meant to help people understand where compostable packaging can go and why composting matters. Huskee also says it hosted a zero-waste cooking event in Brisbane with OzHarvest and Alastair McLeod.

Acknowledged First Nations people

On its website, Huskee says it acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land where it was founded, the Garigal and Cammeraygal People, and pays respect to Elders past and present. This is a public statement of recognition rather than a detailed sustainability program, but it is part of the brand’s wider social and community messaging.
