Joined UN sustainability groups

IAG says it joined the UN Global Compact Network Australia in June 2025. The UN Global Compact is a global business initiative that asks companies to align with principles on human rights, labour, environment, and anti-corruption. IAG also says it was a founding signatory to the UN Principles for Sustainable Insurance in 2012 and regularly reports progress against its four principles. These memberships show active participation in industry sustainability frameworks.

Worked on climate risk research

IAG says it took part in a pilot group that helped create insurance industry climate risk disclosures aligned with the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, or TCFD (a framework for reporting climate risks). It also says the final PSI TCFD report was published in January 2021. In 2020, IAG worked with the Geneva Association on a flood risk management report for Australia. These activities show the company has helped shape climate-risk thinking in insurance.

Set a net zero goal

A third-party interview in Insurance Business says IAG has set a net zero 2050 commitment and science-based targets. Net zero means cutting emissions as much as possible and balancing the rest.
