Launched IZ Adaptive in 2009

In 2009, Izzy pioneered and launched her most important fashion collection to date. The revolutionary clothing line IZ Adaptive, designed specifically for wheelchair users, has changed the lives of people all over the world and is recognized globally.

Designed around a seated frame

A revolutionary and completely unique brand of clothing, completely designed around a seated frame, to provide a superior choice for wheelchair users. IZ Collection pioneered the way for adaptive clothing and pushed boundaries within the fashion world, making the world more accessible, not just through clothing, but also through raising awareness around disability issues and raising the profile of models who use wheelchairs.

Expanded adaptive clothing features

The 55-piece launch collection includes tees, denim and jackets across men's, women's and un-gender categories. Design elements like magnetic closures, pull tabs on zippers and pants, elastic waist bands and open back tops make getting dressed easier for everyone, while bringing more independence to people with disabilities.

Worked with disabled community

Since 2009, her team has worked closely with the disabled community to understand their fit needs.

Hired disabled staff and models

We are a very small company. Only four of us run IZ Adaptive, and we work with external partners to contribute to different aspects of the business. However, two of our staff members live with a physical disability. We will continue to staff our company with people with physical disabilities, where possible, based on the job requirements. Additionally, the models we hire are people with physical disabilities or limitations.

Featured in museum collection

Select IZ Adaptive pieces are part of Royal Ontario Museum’s collection which is Canada’s largest museum.
