Klean Kanteen Sustainability Actions

Measures impact to reduce it

We measure our impact so that we can take action to reduce it. This self-reflexive process drives decisions in all aspects of our business from product design, to supply chain and all the way through to how we get our products in your hands. It even defines where we put our charitable giving dollars.

Climate Neutral Certified since 2020

We’ve been Climate Neutral Certified since 2020, and this year we are delighted to announce that Klean Kanteen is one of the first companies to earn The Climate Label. The Climate Label is earned by companies that demonstrate they have adopted an internal carbon fee to support the climate transition, funded projects that cut emissions from their operations and supply chain, and contribute consistently to the global net-zero transition.

Donated over $4.4 million

Every time you make a purchase from Klean we invest 1% of the sale into organizations working hard to make the world a better place. Through our 1% for the Planet membership our customer community has allowed us to donate over 4.4 million dollars to organizations doing significant work in our key areas of focus: plastic pollution, consumer products, conservation and climate, and outdoor stewardship.

Supported 145+ organizations

Klean Kanteen has supported over 145 environmental organizations via 1% For The Planet since 2008!

Became a B Corporation

In 2012, Klean Kanteen proudly became a B Corporation, certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.

Introduced Klean Coat

In 2018, Klean introduced its own powder coat finish, Klean Coat, ultimately creating a new standard in durability and safety for people and the planet.

Uses recycled steel

Earlier this year, Klean made its biggest move yet and began manufacturing products with certified 90% post-consumer recycled 18/8 steel, a first in the reusable drinkware industry.

Supports Leave No Trace

Featured Partner: Leave No Trace. Klean Kanteen has helped to amplify the Leave No Trace message since 2014! We've partnered with LNT to continue to share educational messages with our community and shed light on opportunities to get involved in sustaining a healthy and vibrant future for our shared lands.

Supports National Park initiatives

The two companies have committed their ongoing support of the National Park Services’ Zero-Landfill Initiatives at Yosemite, Denali and Grand Teton National Parks, in an effort to significantly reduce waste going into landfills from all national parks.
