Separated into two companies

In 2021, L Brands approved a plan to split into two separately listed companies. Victoria’s Secret was spun off to shareholders, and the remaining business changed its name to Bath & Body Works. This was a major corporate change, not a sustainability program on its own, but it matters because it changed which company now holds the old L Brands operations and reporting. After the split, older L Brands ESG information became harder to track in one place.

Changed company structure in 2021

The board approved the separation in July 2021, and the transaction took effect in August 2021. The deal was tax free for L Brands and its shareholders. The company also changed its name as part of the split. This is relevant for sustainability tracking because it affects how investors and consumers should read older reports, since the business no longer exists in the same form.
