Reusable products replace disposables

Last Object sells reusable alternatives to common single-use items. Its LastSwab is meant to replace more than 1,000 cotton swabs, LastRound replaces about 1,750 cotton pads, and LastTissue replaces about 3,100 paper tissues. The idea is to cut waste by making products that people can wash and use again instead of throwing away after one use.

Uses impact testing on products

The brand says each product comes with an independent life cycle assessment, or LCA (a study that measures environmental impact from start to finish). It reports that LastSwab has 8.3 times lower environmental impact than the equivalent number of disposable swabs, LastRound has 24 times lower impact than disposable cotton pads, and LastTissue has 8.2 times lower impact than disposable tissues.

Uses certified materials

Last Object says it uses materials such as GOTS-certified organic cotton (cotton certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard, a rule set for organic textiles), recycled plastic, compostable wood fibres, and wood cellulose fibre. It also says most of the cotton it uses is certified organic, and that some products are tested to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, a safety test for harmful substances in textiles.

Sets supplier conduct rules

The brand says all of its suppliers have signed a Supplier Code of Conduct based on the OECD Guidelines for multinational enterprises. That means suppliers are expected to follow rules on human rights, labour rights, environmental care, and anti-corruption. Last Object also says it aims to provide fair wages and a healthy work-life balance.
