2040
Reach absolute zero by 2040
Lendlease says it aims to reach Absolute Zero by 2040. This means cutting Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to zero without relying on offsets. Scope 3 covers emissions across the wider value chain, such as materials, suppliers and use of assets. The company says this target is part of Mission Zero and is meant to guide how it designs, builds and operates real estate over time.

Net zero carbon in operations by 2025
Lendlease and some of its funds say they are committed to being net zero carbon in operation by 2025 for Scope 1 and 2 emissions. In plain terms, that means removing or balancing the emissions from their own operations and purchased electricity. The company says this target was validated by the Science Based Targets initiative as aligned with a 1.5°C pathway.
2030
Net zero operational buildings by 2030
Lendlease is a signatory to the World Green Building Council’s Net Zero Carbon Buildings Commitment. That commitment asks signatories to own, occupy and develop net zero carbon operational buildings across their portfolios by 2030, and to support wider industry progress toward net zero buildings by 2050. It is a building-focused pledge rather than a whole-company emissions target.

Use renewable electricity by 2040
In its investment management policy, Lendlease says it will use 100% renewable electricity before 2030 and work with tenants to transition to renewable electricity by 2040 in order to reach absolute zero carbon. This is a future-facing energy commitment tied to its property portfolio and tenant relationships.

Create A$250m social value
Lendlease’s investment management business says it has set a target to create A$250 million of measured social value by 2025 through corporate shared value partnerships. Measured social value means putting a monetary estimate on community benefits such as skills, inclusion or wellbeing. The target is described as being above and beyond project or asset obligations.
