Loren Stewart Sustainability Actions

RJC membership and certification

Loren Stewart, LLC is a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). As an RJC member we commit to operating our business in accordance with the RJC Code of Practices Standard. We commit to integrating ethical, human rights, social and environmental considerations into our day-to-day operations, business planning activities and decision-making processes.

Small-batch production

Produced in small batches in downtown Los Angeles and at a family-owned factory in Arezzo, Italy, our jewelry is made using traditional jewelry making techniques like lost-wax casting, hand-forging, vintage chain machines and punch-presses.

Recycled and traceable metals

We strive to work responsibly, prioritizing recycled materials, as well as supply chain transparency. To do this, we have implemented Supply Chain Mapping within our process, where we work closely with our suppliers to trace the metals used to make our products.

Human rights policy

Our human rights policy covers the following key commitments: all forms of violence and harassment in the workplace are prohibited; to never engage in or knowingly support child labour; to never engage in or knowingly support forced labour; to provide a safe and healthy working environment for all employees; to treat employees with dignity and respect; and to prohibit all forms of discrimination.

Conflict diamonds and due diligence

We will not knowingly buy or sell Conflict Diamonds and require that all of our suppliers of diamonds comply with the requirements of the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) and World Diamond Council System of Warranties (SoW). We also commit to using our influence to prevent abuses by others and are implementing the OECD five-step framework as a management process for risk-based due diligence for responsible supply chains of minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas.

Supplier collaboration

We collaborate closely with our suppliers to promote sustainable and responsible practices across our supply chain. We support a continual improvement approach over time, and work with suppliers who demonstrate good faith efforts in improving their performance against our Supplier Code of Conduct.

Materials and gemstone sourcing

Our genuine precious and semi-precious gems are sourced from a family-owned lapidary in Jaipur, India as well as from a downtown Los Angeles supplier who are members of the American Gem Trade Association. Our diamonds are recycled or sourced from licensed local suppliers, and our natural stone objects are sourced globally from trusted partners around the world.
