Lush presents its sustainability approach as a commitment to “leave the world Lusher than we found it,” with work focused on climate and nature, people, and animals. The company says it integrates care for the Earth, communities and animals into how it does business, and uses its Ethical Charter to guide decision-making. Its reporting highlights circular economy work through the Green Hub, reduced packaging through naked products, recycled materials, and take-back schemes. It also states an ambition to remove fossil fuel use from direct operations by 2030 and to reduce supply chain impacts while supporting biodiversity, climate justice and regenerative sourcing.

Lush Lapel Sustainability Actions

Set climate and nature pathway

Our overall aim is to remove all fossil fuel use from our direct operations, including our retail stores, our offices, manufacturing sites and the vehicles we own by 2030. We are also working to reduce the climate and nature impact of our supply webs, while creating more opportunities for nature to thrive and help to remove emissions. Ultimately, we want to have a net positive supply web by 2030.

Launched the Green Hub

The Green Hub is Lush’s commitment and investment in the circular economy. It is where we give materials a new life whether through reusing, repurposing, repairing or recycling, and welcome colleagues and community with open arms into the world of circularity. Since we opened our first Green Hub in 2015, we’ve upscaled, expanded, and grown our understanding of the capabilities we have to take responsibility for our waste.

Introduced Bring it Back

In 2009 we launched our Bring it Back Scheme, giving customers incentives to bring back their used plastic packaging for us to keep the materials circulating and get closer to the holy grail of recycling: closing the loop.
