Maker's Mark is the largest bourbon distillery in the world to achieve B Corp Certification and the first distillery to achieve Regenified certification, a reflection of the brand's dedication towards building a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

It was the first bourbon distillery to open its doors to the public, pioneering the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

In a world of automation and efficiency, Maker's Mark maintains handmade touchpoints including hand-dipping every bottle in iconic red wax.

Zero waste-to-landfill work

The effort at Star Hill Farm is just one of many sustainability-focused initiatives underway at Maker's Mark. Others include a zero waste-to-landfill initiative that is working toward repurposing or recycling all on-site waste, and a custom solar array that powers the distillery’s 47 warehouses.

White oak repository

In partnership with researchers at the University of Kentucky, Maker's Mark has established the world’s largest repository of the American white oak.

Planted white oak saplings

In addition to the white oak that we've planted in our watershed to improve the flow and quality into our water source, we are planting almost 10,000 saplings from all of the American white oak variations; it will cover some 25 acres.

Supported The LEE Initiative

Most recently, it partnered with The LEE Initiative to support the food, beverage and hospitality industry weather the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic. It funded relief kitchens throughout the country and connected small farms with restaurants to aid reopening post pandemic.

A portion of proceeds will benefit Farmer Veteran Coalition (FVC), a national nonprofit that has helped more than 58,000 U.S. veterans build meaningful careers in agriculture.

Maker's Mark is advancing these practices through initiatives like its Regenerative Alliance, which provides education and hands-on support to help farmers build healthier, more resilient ecosystems.
