Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic Scaling

Maybelline has progressively increased its use of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic in packaging, growing from 3.5% in 2022 to 9.2% of total plastic used by 2024. Since 2019, the brand has replaced over 1,100 tonnes of virgin plastic with recycled plastic — more than five times the weight of the Statue of Liberty without its base.

In-Store Makeup Take-Back Programs

Maybelline has established in-store makeup recycling take-back programs in several countries including France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Japan. These programs allow consumers to return used products from any brand for recycling, diverting cosmetic packaging from landfill. The initiative is part of the Conscious Together program's "Conscious Disposal" pillar, developed in partnership with global sustainability consultancy South Pole.

100% Renewable Energy in Manufacturing

All L'Oréal-owned factories producing Maybelline New York products now operate on 100% renewable energy, achieving the brand's 2025 production milestone ahead of schedule. This milestone was delivered through a combination of on-site energy efficiency upgrades and sourcing of renewable electricity across all owned manufacturing sites

Some of Maybelline products use sustainably sourced Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Rice Bran Oil and Sesame Seed Oil.
