Monos Sustainability Actions

Certified B Corporation®

Monos is proud to be the first North American luggage brand to achieve Certified B Corporation® status, joining a community of like-minded businesses committed to the highest standards of social and environmental stewardship. The B Lab assessment, at the heart of our B Corp certification, holds us accountable for our impact across five key areas – governance, workers, community, environment, and customers.

Vegan materials and packaging

As part of our commitment to cruelty-free practices, we source the highest quality vegan alternatives to animal-derived materials for the construction of our bags, luggage tags, and suitcase details. We’ve also taken care to choose packaging that is recyclable, reusable, or both. For orders with multiple products, we use an efficient nesting system to minimize packaging waste and reduce emissions.

Less but better design

Our “less but better” philosophy is rooted in the fundamental connection between thoughtful design and sustainability. To minimize waste and reduce our environmental impact, we design our products to stand the test of time in both design and quality – creating travel pieces to accompany you on a lifetime of journeys.

Recycled materials in products

All of its luggage shells are made from 100 percent recycled/repurposed polycarbonate materials that are Recycled Claim Standard / Global Recycled Standard certified, while its interior liners are made with 100 percent recycled polyester, and buckles on sling and belt bags are composed of 100 percent recycled nylon.

Water and purchasing policies

Monos implemented water conservation practices at its headquarters, created an Environmental Purchasing Policy to ensure environmentally responsible purchasing decisions for cleaning products, office supplies, paper, food services, and landscaping, and partnered with Bullfrog Power to implement a renewable energy strategy across all locations.

Supplier code of conduct

Monos created a supplier code of conduct policy, which has been signed by 20 percent of its top suppliers, which specifically holds its top suppliers accountable for social and environmental performance.

Reforestation with veritree

We’ve partnered with veritree to support reforestation efforts in the Old Bonjoge Forest, a 2,000-hectare forest near Kisumu City, Kenya. This partnership will result in the planting of nearly 1.3 million trees in the area over the next 12 months.
