Mosaic Sustainability Actions

Launched 2030 targets

Last week we launched Mosaic’s streamlined 2030 Sustainability Targets. Our targets center on three priorities: People, Earth and Innovation. These commitments reflect our sharpened focus on reducing risk, improve efficiency, and supporting innovation. They guide how we operate, invest, and create value for our business and society.

Published sustainability reporting

Reporting and transparency are integral to Mosaic’s sustainability journey. As we continue to strive for better performance and results each year, these data points help us measure our success and look for new ways to improve. Mosaic says it regularly conducts significance studies and seeks ongoing dialogue with stakeholders.

Advanced ESG actions in 2021

In 2021, Mosaic Fertilizers advanced on its sustainability journey and published a report to the United Nations Global Compact with actions and investments carried out during the year, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda. The company reported 1,078 leaders completed Conscious Inclusion training, 410 projects were implemented to reduce or eliminate risk conditions, and 31 social initiatives were carried out through the Mosaic Institute.

Reduced emissions and water use

Mosaic Fertilizers intensified its actions to reduce GHG emissions and reduce water use. It reinforced projects aimed at meeting the 2025 emissions reduction targets, established a target of net zero emissions by 2040 for Scopes 1 and 2, and carried out electrification projects and reduction in the use of fossil fuels. It also reinforced the Zero Leak Program and maintained 11 projects to reduce the consumption of new water.

Worked on supply chain governance

To strengthen its governance structure, Mosaic Fertilizers adopted the MRE 2021 programs in 60, which promotes operational efficiency, process autonomy, decision-making and reduction of production costs; and Sustainability in the Value Chain, together with the Ethos Institute, to train suppliers in adopting sustainable practices in their business strategy. It also intensified the implementation of the tool for screening suppliers and customers.
