Created Impact Credits

Motion Energy’s “Impact Credits” are described as a first-of-its-kind carbon credit designed to incentivise the uptake of electric vehicles at scale globally. The credits are based on international carbon accounting methodologies and involve measurement and verification of the volume of energy supplied to EVs and the associated carbon intensity, compared with emissions from internal combustion engine vehicles.

The company says its credits have dual certification, recognised as a world first for the transport sector, and that they recognise the core community and ecosystem benefits of electric vehicles. Motion Energy states that each credit reflects avoided emissions and broader sustainable development benefits happening around the activity.

Motion Energy was listed by the UN Global Compact Network Australia as an impact inspired organisation brought together by an ambition to drive positive change towards zero emissions transport. It said its mission is to drive greater uptake and optimisation of clean transport solutions and to help organisations and individuals realise the economic and environmental value of electric vehicles and their associated infrastructure.
