Co-led sustainability networks

Walter co-founded and co-led the first regional sustainable business networks: in the early 90s, the Social Venture Network across Western and Eastern Europe; a few years later Empresa, which eventually included 25 business networks across the Americas; in the 2000s the New Voice of Business that played a major role in realizing the ‘million solar roofs’ program, California’s largest alternative energy and green jobs initiative.

Developed Natura’s 2030 vision

NOW co-led for Natura, Latin America’s leading beauty group, the development of its 2030 Sustainability Vision. Around the world Natura is seen as a model for Regenerative Value Creation – integrating regenerative impact on nature and society, with outstanding business success. Natura and NOW also collaborate in capacity building and blended finance for the transition to regenerative Agroforestry in the Amazon and internationally.

Led Danone manager programmes

NOW co-led leadership development programs for Danone’s top 200 managers who have a strong influence on the food industry and on farming practices around the world. NOW supports them to embrace the challenge of integrating business success with regenerative impact. Danone and NOW are also exploring collaboration on blended finance solutions for the transitions to regenerative food systems.

Supported Philips strategy

NOW supported Philips, one of the world’s leading healthcare companies to develop its sustainability innovation vision and implementation strategy. Over several years, NOW helped to spread this new strategy among Philip’s tenth of thousands of employees and suppliers to model regenerative business success for global healthcare systems that NOW also supports with its Healthcare Innovation Labs.

Backed Sekem payment system

Sekem is the MENA region’s largest regenerative agriculture, education and industry group. NOW supports the international development and marketing of its innovative Economy of Love ecosystem service payment system that helps to finance thousands of local farmers to transition profitably from chemical to regeneration bio-dynamic farming.

Created impact finance links

Walter became a founding investor in one of Europe’s first impact funds, PYMWIMIC (Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Company). His investments helped bring sustainability leaders like Ben & Jerry’s and Nature & Decouvertes to Europe’s Benelux countries. With his partners, he brought some of the world’s largest institutional investors together with sustainability experts.
