Carbon neutrality goal
The OFELIA Open Fan for Environmental Low Impact of Aviation project aims for the SMR to achieve or surpass the Air Transport Action Group’s goals on the way towards carbon neutrality by 2050.

Open fan demonstration
The OFELIA aviation project has a project implementation period from 1 November 2022 to 31 December 2026 and aims to demonstrate at TRL5 the RISE Open Fan architecture.
2035
Entry into service target
The Open Fan engine architecture is described as the most promising solution in terms of fuel efficiency, with a target of rapid Entry into Service, as early as 2035.
