Onesixth Expeditions Sustainability Actions

Certified B Corporation

As a Certified B Corporation™, Onesixth Expeditions says it is part of a community of companies working together to influence change and participating in collective actions to promote a common goal: a global economy that benefits people and the planet. Onesixth Expeditions meets B Lab’s integrated social, environmental, and governance standards.

Carbon footprint offsetting

Onesixth Expeditions says all its itineraries are Carbon Neutral. It states that it offsets the carbon footprint of the company and each passenger, and that its itineraries are designed to have a lighter footprint. The company also says it measures each step and service in order to reduce the environmental impact and offset its footprint for the entire journey.

Reforestation with native trees

Its reforestation program is managed by Seamos Bosques, who are planting native trees in Argentina. Onesixth Expeditions says it offers to work together with Seamos Bosques in natural solutions to offset the carbon footprint through the planting of native trees.

Plastic reduction measures

As signatories of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, Onesixth Expeditions says it is committed to reduce plastic waste across its operations. It says it eliminates unnecessary single-use plastics and prioritizes circular solutions. It also promotes reusable water bottles, provides water cans instead of single-use plastic bottles where possible, and incorporates water stations in suppliers, hotels and vehicles.

Waste and print reduction

The company says its communication is digital and downloadable and that it invests in digital platforms, apps and responsive websites. It also says it tries to avoid unnecessarily printing and uses National Natural paper made from 100% sugar cane fibre, 0% tree fibre and 0% chemical bleaches for specific jobs. It states that all its bags are compostable and become fertile soil in 90 days, and that they are made of bio-polymer based on corn-starch and vegetable oils.

Local women cooperative

Onesixth Expeditions says it collaborates with Enredo Women’s Cooperative, a collective of local women workers committed to dignified employment and social impact. It says the products delivered to travellers are responsibly produced and rooted in local identity.

Slow travel design

Its itineraries are designed based on the Slow Travel concept, with activities such as walking, wildlife and nature watching, horseback riding, kayaking and bicycle tours. The company says this approach is intended to avoid travel fatigue and to create experiences that remain sustainable for local communities and the environment.
