Piper & Skye Sustainability Actions

Amended corporate structure

Piper & Skye has legally amended its corporate structure to mandate that every business decision prioritizes the environment equally alongside financial performance.

Measured pirarucu footprint

In 2022 Piper & Skye commissioned a research consultancy to determine the carbon footprint of its signature material. With a verified carbon footprint of 54 kg CO2e/m², pirarucu leather was found to be 12 times less carbon-intensive than traditional bovine leather.

Uses repair and maintenance

The 3-Year Repair and Maintenance Program is a cornerstone of Piper & Skye’s circularity strategy designed to extend the lifespan of products and prevent them from becoming waste. The company offers complimentary repairs on hardware, stitching, and straps.

Sources waste-based materials

Piper & Skye’s Material Selection Criteria requires that leathers would otherwise be considered a waste product unless passed on to designers and artisans. The brand uses pirarucu leather, a food by-product, and python leather which would otherwise be discarded following environmental conservation efforts.

Uses FSC packaging

Piper & Skye chooses packaging and print materials only from FSC certified companies, and is committed to eliminating the use of all plastics.

Supports community causes

Piper & Skye donates a percentage of each sale to Safe Transitions, a non-profit that provides safe housing for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. It also implemented a crisis response donation programme that supported shelters across the country with masks during COVID-19 pandemic, and more recently necessary supplies for Ukraine war victims.

Partners with suppliers

Piper & Skye partners only with suppliers who align with its values of Respect, Responsibility, and Community.
