Pivot Energy Sustainability Actions

Improved GHG tracking

In 2024, Pivot improved how it tracks and reports greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, set a timeline for achieving Net Zero, and conducted a company-wide survey to better serve and empower its team. To this end, it transitioned to Salesforce Net Zero Cloud and expanded its tracking across scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 emissions.

Reached 3.5 GW milestone

In 2024, Pivot reached a landmark goal: 3.5 gigawatts of affordable renewable energy projects, either completed or in development. This means that about 2.6 million households can access and benefit from solar energy that previously couldn’t. In 2024, its projects produced nearly 85 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy.

Expanded employee groups

In 2024, Pivot expanded its Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and Employee Interest Groups (EIGs) to foster inclusivity among team members and strengthen the Pivot community.

Supported community organizations

In 2024, Pivot supported 118 different organizations nationwide. Pivot employees donated $86,225, including the company match, and 53% of Pivoteers contributed to the Employee Donation Match Program.

Launched community engagement plan

In 2024, Pivot developed a plan for a more consistent and robust community engagement process to increase transparency. The three-pronged plan was deployed across every project: contact project neighbors by letter prior to submitting a permit application, invite neighbors to a community meeting, and report outcomes and follow up on questions.

Started pro bono legal program

Pivot launched a pro bono legal program in 2024 to assist farmers and landowners interested in stepping into the agrivoltaics industry. The program aims to eliminate cost and legal barriers for those who want to support solar projects through crop harvesting, grazing, or other vegetation management.

Joined SBTi and set targets

In 2023, Pivot joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and set science-based targets. In line with the Paris Agreement, it will reduce its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 from a 2021 base year, while measuring and reducing all Scope 3 emissions.

Re-certified as Benefit Corporation

In 2023, Pivot re-certified as a Benefit Corporation and designed a multi-year ESG roadmap that lays out the categories and actions it will pursue as it grows and evolves as a purpose-driven company.

Expanded community solar gardens

Pivot developed a 41 MW portfolio of community solar gardens in Colorado that are 100% dedicated to reducing bills for low-income households; the first of these gardens came online in 2023, kicking off an expected $150 million or more in energy savings for residents over the next 20 years.
