Produbanco Sustainability Actions

Leader in sustainable finance

Since 2016, Produbanco says it has been the number-one lender for sustainable-financing initiatives. It states that during the last decade it has emerged as the Ecuadorian banking sector’s clear leader in sustainability.

Signed the PRB in 2019

From September 2019 onwards, Produbanco has been a founding signatory of the United Nations’ Principles for Responsible Banking.

Launched Green Lines

In August 2016, the bank launched its Green Lines program (LĂneas Verdes), a series of loans for companies with carbon neutral or energy efficiency certification.

Started Cuenta Verde

In 2019, Produbanco started its “Cuenta Verde” program, described as the first Green Saving Account of the Ecuadorian banking system. The account raises funds for credits in Produbanco’s Green Lines program.

Measures and offsets carbon

Produbanco works with Soluciones Ambientales Totales “SAMBITO” to measure Produbanco and its subsidiaries’ carbon footprint, reduce its impact and offset carbon emissions. Carbon compensation is achieved by supporting the conservation of 950 hectares of native forest in the Tinajillas Río Gualaceño Municipal Ecological Conservation Area.
