Set a 2030 emissions target

PwC says it aims to reach net zero by 2050 and cut its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 50% by 2030. Scope 1 covers direct emissions, Scope 2 covers energy it buys, and Scope 3 covers other indirect emissions such as travel and suppliers. The target is described as an absolute cut, not one adjusted for staff size, and it is said to be validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, which checks whether climate targets match climate science.

Reduced travel and car use

The company says it has lowered business travel as part of its New Ways of Working approach. It also says it has reduced its company car fleet and switched to electric vehicles. These steps are meant to lower the emissions linked to travel and daily operations, which is important for a consulting business where staff often move between client sites.

Built DEI into processes

PwC says it has embedded diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, into core people processes such as recruiting, onboarding, project staffing, training, and HR development. It says it uses measurable DEI criteria, has diversity champions in appraisal committees, offers mentoring, and runs training such as unconscious bias sessions. It also says it has a family and career support program, transparent pay within career levels, and an internal ombudsteam to spot and address wellbeing issues early.

Works with global sustainability groups

PwC says it collaborates with international groups such as the World Economic Forum, the Global Solutions Initiative, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development. It says this helps create dialogue between science, politics, business, and civil society so that wider rules and conditions for sustainability can improve.
