Existing materials consultancy

As Existing Materials Consultants, Revival helps clients use the materials they already have, facilitating everything involved in utilising existing materials in new design development. The role can begin prior to Planning Applications or Concept Design and includes preparing a commercial feasibility report, providing an existing materials “kit of parts,” documenting environmental impact, and working with demolition and principal contractors to facilitate salvage, transport and storage.

Manufacturing with existing materials

Revival says its manufacturing facility operates exclusively with existing materials, and that no new materials are allowed through the door. The practice describes this as part of its approach to resourcefulness and to retaining the sequestered carbon contained in existing materials while minimising embodied carbon by avoiding the purchase and consumption of new construction materials.

Zero Footprint Repurposing Hub

Revival created the Zero Footprint Repurposing Hub, described as a project of ambitious scale with global importance. The hub provided storage space for materials from construction projects around Melbourne, saving materials from landfill and making them more accessible to the design community. Revival also offered free storage for materials earmarked for repurposing.

Repurposed demolition materials

Revival has salvaged timber beams from an original structure on the Port Melbourne wharf and refitted the beams for use in commercial office space. The team was also responsible for recycling the St. Crispin House’s 100-year-old factory materials to build new flagship stores.

B Corp accreditation

Revival states that it holds B Corp accreditation.

Traditional Custodians acknowledgement

Revival acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which they live, work and travel, and pays respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledges the ongoing resilience, strength and pride of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
