RIANNA + NINA presents sustainability as central to its work, describing itself as a label built around vintage fabrics, craftsmanship, and pieces intended to last for years. The brand says it has worked with vintage materials for over 30 years and that its one-of-a-kind designs are made from treasure-hunted vintage textiles, including silk scarves and obi belts. It also states that unused fabrics from ready-to-wear collections are saved and reincorporated into an Archive Collection. The company links its approach to reducing waste and creating a more conscious way of consuming.

RIANNA + NINA Sustainability Actions

Uses vintage materials

Sustainability has been vital to RIANNA + NINA since our beginning. Working with vintage materials for over 30 years, Rianna has long been keenly aware of how important saving something can be — and what is lost when precious treasures go unpreserved. From our very first one-of-a-kind kimonos made from repurposed vintage silk scarves, we’ve sought to revitalize vintage couture fabrics while wasting as little as possible.

Reincorporates unused fabrics

All unused fabrics from our ready-to-wear collections are saved to be reincorporated into our Archive Collection — made solely from the remaining fabrics of previous pieces. For our One-of-a-kind Collection, every remaining piece of our vintage fabrics are stored, allowing our master artisans to bring them back as details for other works.

Makes hand-crafted pieces

Master artisans create every piece by hand in our Berlin atelier. The one-of-a-kind designs are composed of treasure-hunted vintage fabrics - silk scarves from the 1980s, original Japanese obi belts from the 20s refined with vintage lace, and luxurious embroideries.
