2030
All apparel and accessories
Rip Curl says it wants all apparel and accessories to contain preferred materials by 2030. Preferred materials are fibres and inputs that are meant to have a lower environmental impact than conventional ones. The company says it had reached 66% in FY24, so the target still needs a large increase over the next few years.
2026
Responsible cotton target
Rip Curl says it aims to source 100% responsibly sourced cotton by 2026. It says it is using a mix of organic, recycled, and Better Cotton, which is a program that supports more responsible cotton farming. The brand reported 72% responsible cotton in FY24, so it still has work to do to reach the target.
2030
More plant-based wetsuit foam
Rip Curl says it wants 75% of its wetsuit range to use responsibly sourced plant-based neoprene alternatives by 2030. Neoprene is the foam used in many wetsuits. The company says 25% of its wetsuit range ordered used responsibly sourced materials in FY24, up from 16% in FY23.

More sustainable fibres
Rip Curl has said it aims for at least 50% of its products to use preferred sustainable fibres by 2025. It also said this share would rise year by year. This target was described alongside plans to expand repair, recycling, and recycled packaging work.
