Rowie the Label Sustainability Actions

Paper mailers and card bags

All of our domestic orders are sent in our new paper mailers that are FSC certified recycled, compostable, reusable and recyclable card. The custom ROWIE paper bags that you'll take home with you when you make a purchase at one of our boutiques are made from 100% recycled card.

Compostable garment bags

All Rowie garments are packed in compostable Poly Bags, also known as comPOLY bags. These compostable bags are made from bio-cassava and can be composted at home with your food scraps and garden waste.

FSC-certified stickers

We use custom roll labels made from acid-free, FSC-certified paper and use non-toxic adhesive which means they're compostable and recyclable after use. They're printed using soy-based inks, and even the rolls they come on are curb-side recyclable!

Sustainable swim collection

In 2019 we introduced our first sustainable swim collection, made from recycled-techno fabric, ECONYL® regenerated Nylon. This collection marked a turning point in our journey with sustainable fibres in our ethical journey.

Preferred fibres in collections

The preferred fibres that we utilise in our yearly collections include natural linen, zero waste knits and organic cotton and wherever possible, we choose the option that will reduce our eco-footprint. We are continuing to work alongside our factories to improve both of our internal practices and processes.

Small-scale production

Since the beginning, we have been dedicated to small-scale production to inhibit waste from overproduction, the use of harmful chemicals, and unethical labour practices. This means we produce only four collections each year, made to be transseasonal, with a limited run of products in each.

Workplace sustainability practices

At ROWIE, we aim to “walk the talk” when it comes to sustainability. While we are always looking for new ways to re-use, reduce, and recycle, we're continuing to grow and learn in order to improve and minimise our environmental footprint. We currently implement the following sustainable practices which will be expanded on as we progress: Bring lunch to work with produce from our gardens, and share when we have excess; if we do buy lunch, we choose to support the local, sustainable businesses in Byron Bay; we use reusable Keep Cups for coffee and tea indulgences at our local coffee shop.
