Salty Aura Sustainability Actions

Used compostable packaging

From the start in 2018, we’ve been against plastic pollution - shipping products in bulk cardboard boxes and using 100% compostable satchels instead of plastic. Across the business, we prioritise minimal, sustainable packaging wherever possible.

Switched to recycled cotton

One of our biggest achievements was switching our fabrics to 100% recycled cotton from pre-consumer waste, meaning fabric cutoffs from other brands are shredded and respun into yarn. By recycling existing material, we save tens of thousands of litres of water.

Used recycled plastic bags

We also use 100% recycled plastic bags to create our outdoor camping mats.

Donated meals per product

Since day one, we’ve wanted to give back. For every product sold, we provide 5 meals to children in need and contribute to initiatives like school water filters, ensuring kids have safe water and nutritious food to grow and learn.

Became carbon neutral

Becoming Carbon Neutral was a must! It’s so rewarding knowing our business isn’t just offsetting emissions, but actually creating positive change. We are also Bcorp certified, meaning we meet high standards of social and environmental responsibility, accountability, and transparency, balancing profit with positive impact on workers, communities, customers, and the planet.

Planted trees with Eden

From 2018–2024, we planted 10 trees per product with Eden Reforestation Projects - over 751,680 trees grown so far.

Measured and funded climate action

salty aura measured its GHG emissions in order to understand its impact on the climate and inform its plans to reduce GHGs over time. Total 2024 GHG Emissions 325 tCO2e (location-based). Total climate funding $5,688. Climate Projects included compostable mailers vs poly mailers, compostable garment bags, Southern Cardamom REDD+ and the Kootznoowoo Forestry Project.

Reduced office emissions

Completed actions included installing on-site solar panels, moving the warehouse to the city to be closer to Australia Post and DHL sorting facilities, using a green power accredited energy provider to supply 100% renewable energy while waiting to install solar panels, ordering products from China in bulk to fill an entire shipping container at a time, reducing employee commuting emissions, and reducing flight-based business travel.
